US President Donald Trump has claimed that he intentionally delayed his evacuation during the shooting at the Washington Hilton because he wanted to understand what was happening.

In an interview with CBS when a reporter asked why his security team's actions seemed chaotic and slow, Trump said he wanted to see what was going on, and he probably slowed them down a little bit.

According to the interviewer, it took Secret Service agents 10 seconds to surround the president, then another 20 seconds to escort him out. Trump and his wife, Melania, were evacuated from the White House Correspondents' Association dinner Sunday after shots were fired.

The American leader later announced that the shooter had been arrested. Jeanine Ferris Pirro, the US Attorney for the District of Columbia, said that the man arrested after the shooting will be arraigned in court on Monday.
