The Caucasus Muslims Board has reacted to a statement by the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin on the demolition of the Armenian Holy Mother of God and Saint Jacob churches in Stepanakert, the capital of Azerbaijani-occupied Nagorno-Karabakh.

The Azerbaijani side justified its aforesaid actions by stating that the demolition of these churches was “not the destruction of religious or cultural heritage,” according to Azerbaijani media.

And the statement of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin was described as “an attempt to politicize the issue.”

The aforesaid board claimed that the “dismantling” of these churches was carried out based on the request of Azerbaijanis.
