Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Saint Petersburg, Russia, RIA Novosti reports.

Putin stressed that Russia will do everything that meets the interests of Iran and other countries in the region to establish peace in the Middle East as soon as possible.

The Russian leader added that he had received a message from Iran's Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, and wished the leader of the Islamic Republic well.

In turn, Araghchi thanked Russia for supporting Iran. Also, he lauded the relations between the two countries, and noted that they will continue to strengthen.
