YEREVAN. - Russian-Georgian relations will hardly register a serious progress till the parliamentary elections in Georgia scheduled for this fall, expert Sergey Minasyan said at a press conference on Wednesday.

On the background of those statements which Russia and Georgia exchanged, as well as the fact that Russia recognizes independence of Abkhazia and the South Ossetia, re-establishment of bilateral relations is possible, if the incumbent President Saakashvili is not in office at least formally.

Noting that the 2008 war had a great influence on relations, at the same time the expert pointed out ties between the Russians and the Georgians.

“The problem is not so deep as compared to the relations between the Armenians and the Turks,” Minasyan said adding the progress may be expected next year.
