YEREVAN. – Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan on Tuesday received Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who is in the capital Yerevan on an official visit. 

At the start of their meeting, the interlocutors congratulated one another in connection with 20th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between Armenia and Russia, as these relations were established twenty years ago on this very day, the President’s Press Office informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.   

Afterward, they stressed that the political discourse and the dynamically growing cooperation between Armenia and Russia bespeak the existing strategic partnership and the strong allied correlations—between the two friendly peoples and states—which are consolidating through the regular high-level meetings between the presidents of both countries.    

Sergei Lavrov added that 2012 is an anniversary year also because the Agreement on Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance—which Armenia and Russia had signed—will turn fifteen this August, and noted that the respective events to be organized are being combined with the materialization of certain programs aimed at further enhancing the bilateral cooperation.
