French President Emmanuel Macron, speaking at the European Political Community Summit in the Armenian capital, highlighted the significant political changes that have taken place in the country in recent years.

According to him, Armenia's transformation has become evident to the international community.

"Let's be honest: eight years ago, no one would have come here. Eight years ago, this country was seen at the negotiating table as a de facto satellite of Russia. The fact that today we are seeing so many first-ever visits to your country is very telling," Macron stated.

The French leader emphasized that Armenia had previously been perceived by many as a de facto ally of Russia, but that following the Velvet Revolution, the country's course had changed.

He highlighted the role of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who, according to Macron, reoriented the country by making peace and European integration its priorities.

Macron also connected the changes taking place in Armenia to broader processes across Europe, including Ukraine's resistance and reforms in other countries of the region.

"Events in Ukraine, Armenia's strategy, processes in Moldova and other countries show that we Europeans, in recent years, have made a choice in favor of awakening and unity," he noted.

The French President emphasized that the pursuit of European strategic autonomy is a reflection of this shared course and of growing European unity.
