The whole point of the Armenia-EU summit is the reproduction of the incumbent authorities of Armenia. Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) MP Metakse Hakobyan—who is participating in a protest Tuesday outside the Presidential Palace of Armenia, and demanding the release of Armenian captives held in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku—told this to reporters.
The Armenia-EU summit is being held at the Armenian presidential palace.
“It is simple logic. If, for example, peace has been established, and everyone welcomes that peace, then I think it was also possible to return the [Armenian] captives [in Azerbaijan] along with bringing fertilizer, fodder, and gasoline. From this, a clear conclusion is that this is not about peace. But all the processes that are still expected, Armenia still has to go through. And to implement all that, these [Armenian] authorities must be reproduced,” Hakobyan said, adding that this is a brilliant example of the fact that these authorities do not protect the interests of Armenians, but of any other country, and the latter’s representatives have come to support them.
Speaking about Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s harsh demeanor Monday, Hakobyan noted that in the case of such Armenian authorities, this demeanor is normal, and the prime minister of Armenia was grateful for all the qualifications that “the president of Azerbaijan gave to all of us, both the people of Artsakh and the people of Armenia.”
Metakse Hakobyan noted that the two-day work of the summit and the behavior of visiting French President Emmanuel Macron testify to the fact that there is no pro-Armenian process here. “There is absolute support here, and this is precisely what endangers the Republic of Armenia, because there can be no talk of sovereignty anymore,” Hakobyan said.
