Minister Delegate for the Armed Forces and Veterans, Alice Rufo, who today (May 5) signed a memorandum of understanding with Armenia’s Minister of High-Tech Industry, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, on cooperation between the two ministries, answered questions from NEWS.am about the new opportunities this will create.

“We are building a real partnership for peace. It is about defense, about strengthening defensive capabilities, and about dual-use technologies. I know, for example, that Armenia is very advanced in the field of new technologies and is actively developing innovative defense technologies. We are very interested in establishing an equal partnership and deepening our cooperation. That is why we signed this agreement with our agency for new technologies and the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of Armenia.

We also provide certain equipment, training, and support for new developments—for example, in areas such as drones and similar technologies. I believe this is very important. But once again, our cooperation is purely defensive in nature. It is about building peace and supporting Armenia’s sovereignty,” Alice Rufo stated.

The signed document is aimed at deepening cooperation between the two countries in the fields of research, development, and innovation of military technologies and defense systems. It establishes a framework for joint activities focused on the exchange of experience, the implementation of joint projects, and the development of the defense industry.
