I think it is inappropriate to respond to the statements made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Yerevan. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, who is currently on vacation and heads the ruling Civil Contract party’s proportional representation list for the parliamentary election on June 7, told this to reporters Monday.

Pashinyan added that the summit of the European Political Community is a multilateral format, and its venue does not matter.

"This event is as much my event as it is the event of our other partners. I do not think that as the head of the host country, I should censor or necessarily respond to everything. It is a multilateral platform, and people should express themselves on that platform," Pashinyan noted.

He noted that there have been cases when the Russian president had made statements about the leaders of various countries in his presence. “But I don’t recall that they expected me to respond to those statements,” Pashinyan added.

“We [i.e. Armenia] are a member country of the European Political Community, a member country of the EAEU, but that doesn’t mean that we pretend to interfere in all world affairs. And, excuse me, [but] we are a small country with our own small agenda. Should we normalize relations between Russia and Ukraine? We are fulfilling our modest role, contributing to global stability in the whole world,” the Armenian PM concluded.
