A military parade is taking place in Yerevan's Republic Square today on the first Republic Day anniversary.

Earlier, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had announced that this is, in a sense, an account on what armaments and weapons Armenia has acquired since 2022. He had noted that mainly the armaments acquired after 2022 will be displayed.

Political opposition forces, however, consider this a move aimed at the Pashinyan-led ruling party’s election campaign ahead of the parliamentary elections on June 7.

The Armenian Ministry of Defense on Wednesday announced that three cannon shots will be fired, as well as a flight of the Armenian Armed Forces aviation will be conducted also as part of the military parade.
