What we showed yesterday during the military parade is all factory-made, there is not a single weapon there that has passed through someone else's hands and is not intended for the Republic of Armenia. We have shown weapons and ammunition produced by at least seven countries. I congratulate you on having a new army. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Friday stated this during the ruling Civil Contract party’s parliamentary election campaign in Tavush Province.
"This is still the visible part, we were not able to show the fortified areas, we have built dozens of fortified areas, and continue to build so that the Republic of Armenia has the highest level of defense capability.
They [i.e. the former Armenian authorities] were saying we have destroyed or are destroying the [Armenian] army, they were saying [that] because they knew the army they left behind, they knew that that army was in a destroyed state and they wanted to put the accountability for destroying it on us. They were telling us, ‘You provoked a war,’ they knew that they left behind a war.
The four-day war of 2016 did not end with any papers, and the war of 2020 was just a continuation of the war of 2016—and this is the truth. I became prime minister on May 8, 2018, I did not have time to look through the papers, they were already saying, ‘ He is giving the lands, he will give, has given the lands [to Azerbaijan]. Why are they saying [this]? Because they knew that they had given, they had finished, and they had given [the lands] very early, back in 1996; they simply did not tell us so as to keep the power,” Pashinyan announced.
Also, he noted that they had saved Armenia’s southernmost Meghri city from being handed over to Azerbaijan.
“That story ended with us signing the TRIPP [i.e. the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity project] agreement, which is being implemented within the framework of Armenia's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and jurisdiction, and therefore there is no topic of a ‘corridor’ and there never was,” Pashinyan added, in particular.
“And now they are saying, ‘He [i.e. Pashinyan] will bring 300 thousand Azerbaijanis [go Armenia].’ They are spending millions [of dollars] to prove that we [i.e. the incumbent Armenian authorities] are not building an army. We build kindergartens, we introduce health insurance for our pensioners, they [i.e. the former Armenian authorities] don’t see it, they see Azerbaijanis, because they consider you an enemy. You are an enemy to them because you made a revolution in 2018 and took their ‘ladles’ from their hands, because they can no longer devour. I have broken their looting paws,” the Armenian PM said.
