We are submitting an petition to invalidate the election results, after which we will present both our justifications and the general vision of the situation. Strong Armenia bloc member and lawyer Aram Vardevanyan on Friday told this to reporters outside the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) building, commenting on the large-scale violations recorded in the past parliamentary election process.

Vardevanyan said that petitioning to the CEC is a mandatory legal action so that in the future the CEC cannot use the excuse of an absence of such a petition as an argument for defense in the Constitutional Court.

He noted that the CEC is obligated to thoroughly examine the submitted document, assessing not individual absurd incidents, but the systemic regression of electoral culture in Armenia, where the OSCE/ODIHR assessment indicators were even worse than during the 2021 parliamentary elections in the country.

“They [i.e. Armenia’s voters] would have participated more if there was no hate speech in the country, if there was no atmosphere of the implementation of the repressive machine, the participation would have been more,” Aram Vardevanyan noted.

He drew special attention to the unprecedented violations, both during the entire election campaign season and on the day of the parliamentary election itself on June 7, including the manipulations committed during data entry.

Vardevanyan considered the creation of an artificial lack of conditions for the free expression of the will of servicemen to be a separate acute topic, for which the current Armenian authorities bear full responsibility.

The lawyer recalled that by law the doors of the polling stations should be closed after 20:00, but the authorities deliberately organized the transportation of soldiers after that hour.

Aram Vardevanyan recapped that the situation has long gone beyond the scope of standard legal disputes and requires a mandatory review of the voting results, adding that the Strong Armenia bloc will use all legal mechanisms to cancel the rigged parliamentary election results.
