According to preliminary data, the passenger plane flying from Gyumri, Armenia to Moscow, Russia made an emergency landing in Makhachkala, Russia due to a faulty hermeticity sensor, reported the Western Interregional Investigative Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
As per the Flightradar24 portal, earlier on Monday, a Pobeda airline plane flying from Gyumri to Moscow had given an emergency signal in the sky of Russia’s Republic of Dagestan. Sometime later, the Pobeda airline reported a successful landing of the plane in Makhachkala. Specialists have already begun checking the technical condition of the plane.
“According to preliminary data, on June 22, 2026, the plane made an emergency landing at the Makhachkala airport. The cause, according to the preliminary theory, is the incorrect operation of the hermeticity loss sensor. There were no affected as a result of the incident,” the Western Interregional Investigative Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of Russia said in a statement.
An investigation has been ordered into the incident, and Russian law enforcement officers are investigating its causes and circumstances.
Pobeda airline specialists are assessing the technical condition of the aircraft. An official representative of Pobeda in Makhachkala reported that there were 186 people on board. They are scheduled to be transferred to another aircraft and sent to their destination.
As RIA Novosti was informed by the airline, these passengers will fly to Moscow on a reserve plane. The Pobeda press service reported that this flight is scheduled for 17:00 Armenia time.
Now the passengers are going through passport control and receiving their luggage in the prescribed manner.
