Opposition Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) chairman and businessman Gagik Tsarukyan's supporters are holding a protest outside the Armenian government building.

Tsarukyan is under arrest on a number of charges: he is charged with large-scale fraud and money laundering.

According to law enforcement agencies, the business tycoon had arranged the theft of more than $21 million in property from several Iranian businessmen.

Meanwhile, Tsarukyan's lawyers argue that the aforesaid Iranians themselves owe the PAP leader, for which there are promissory notes. Tsarukyan's defense also argues that the same individuals were convicted in Iran in the same case and are obligated to pay a large sum to Gagik Tsarukyan.
