The opposition raised the issue of political persecution against Artur Sargsyan, an MP from the opposition "Armenia" bloc, during the first session of Armenia's newly elected National Assembly on August 2.

This occurred following the "roll call" of deputies. Specifically, Gegham Manukyan, an MP from the opposition "Armenia" bloc, reminded those present that their colleague Artur Sargsyan is under house arrest and was unable to take part in the parliamentary session.

According to the opposition figure, their colleague has been persecuted solely for political reasons, sharply criticizing such actions by the current authorities.
