The employees of businessman and opposition Prosperous Armenia Party chairman Gagik Tsarukyan’s facilities closed by authorities are staging a protest in downtown Yerevan on Monday morning.

The previous rally was held last week.

Those gathered are demanding the resumption of the activities of the aforesaid facilities—sports complexes, factories, hotels, restaurants, etc.—giving them the opportunity to return to work.

These employees who have not been able to work since the beginning of July have found themselves in the hopeless situation of being deprived of their means of livelihood and unable to fulfill their loan obligations.

During the previous rally, a government representative received the employees, promising to convey the raised demand to the leadership and relay the answer. Today, the aforesaid employees have assembled in the expectation of receiving just that answer.

Work on about 70 facilities has been suspended, some of which have already been handed over to state management.

And Gagik Tsarukyan is under arrest.
