Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, speaking at the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council session via videoconference, announced the continuation of mutually beneficial cooperation.

Separately, the premier focused on the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) regional transport project.

“One of the key components of the ‘Crossroads of Peace’ [project of the Armenian government] is TRIPP, a route for international peace and prosperity,’ Pashinyan said.

According to him, the TRIPP project will enable opening a direct railway connection between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

At the same time, as the Armenian PM noted, this project will enable integrating Armenia into the international railway network and creating conditions for the formation of railway communication between the Persian Gulf and the Black Sea.

“This will become a landmark event in the field of transport links, a turning point for Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Iran,” he added.

Also, the Armenian premier said that during the closed session, he had informed his colleagues about some of the nuances of the process of unblocking regional transport communications. As per Pashinyan, this process is taking place as a result of the establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“We hope for some decisions that, in particular, will lead to an increase in the efficiency of the railways of the Republic of Armenia,” the head of Armenian government said.

Another topic of his address was the functioning of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) common market. Pashinyan noted that the free movement of goods, services, capital, and labor is the basis for the full functioning of this market. At the same time, according to him, the practical implementation of these principles still requires special attention.

“Since my previous participation in the session of the Intergovernmental Council in Cholpon-Ata, unfortunately, no significant progress has been achieved on a number of existing issues,” the Armenian PM stated.

He noted that restrictions and administrative obstacles remain, which, in his words, significantly complicate the full and effective functioning of the EAEU common market. In this regard, the Armenian side considers it important to continue the constructive dialogue in order to eliminate the existing obstacles to the export and transit of Armenian products in accordance with the EAEU law.

Pashinyan expressed confidence, however, that consistent progress in this regard is in the interests of all EAEU member states. According to him, this should contribute to ensuring the stability of trade flows, predictability of conditions for market participants, as well as further strengthening of economic cooperation.
