Armenia is open to discussing the future of the Russian military base stationed in the country, Armenian Foreign Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ararat Mirzoyan said on November 5.

“I have heard expressions of dissatisfaction regarding the Russian military base in Armenia,” Mirzoyan told reporters.

According to him, the political debate in Armenia has included questions about whether the base is necessary, including from a financial perspective.

“As far as I remember, this discussion was initiated by the Russian president, who said: ‘If you want, let’s discuss whether the base should continue operating or be phased out.’ We are ready to discuss it, if you wish. We have no objection,” the minister noted.
