YEREVAN. – Several dozens of jewelry retailers have gathered in front of the Armenian Government Building on Thursday.

They are complaining about the activities by the Market Supervision State Inspectorate.

As per the jewelers, the inspectorate officers are conducting inspections in the jewelry market for the past three days and are charging large fines for the flawed probe stamp on the Sasuntsi Davit (David of Sasun) gold coin.

“But the probe is stamped by the Probe Stamp Inspection, and if it stamps it crooked, or does not stamp it well, we are not responsible for it,” a jeweler told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The protesting jewelers stated that they demand a written response to this matter from the government.

These Jewelers have started a strike as of Thursday. But they informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that many other jewelry retailers have not joined because they are afraid.
