The road leading from Armenia’s Garni village to Khosrov Forest State Reserve has frozen.

The village residents told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the irrigation water pipes have frozen and burst. As a result, the water poured on the road leading to Garni Canyon and turned into ice. 

The Garni residents added that this is the situation for nearly two days, and since the community leaders are doing nothing to resolve this matter, the villagers themselves are trying to open the pipes.

“If we do not [do this] now, [the pipes] will freeze completely, and we will be left without irrigation water in spring,” said the villagers, who were burning tires to melt the ice around the pipes.
