YEREVAN. – Over one-hundred employees from Nairit chemical [rubber] plant of Armenia’s capital city Yerevan again gathered in front of the Government building on Wednesday, and demanded their unpaid salaries for fifteen months.

These Nairit workers have been laid off for four years.

“In addition, we are interested in the fate of our plant. We want to know, ultimately, what will be the fate of the plant and of us,” a Nairit employee told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“As far as I know, there are more than 2,000 employees in the plant; this means 2,000 families are on the verge of collapse,” plant worker Ruben Matinyan said, in particular.

A large number of police officers are overseeing the peaceful protest, the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter informs.

The demonstrators are waiting for someone to come out of the Government building and listen to them.
