YEREVAN. – A total of 49 Diaspora-Armenian teachers from twelve countries will participate in a one-month training program in Armenia’s capital city Yerevan.

The official opening of the training program was held on Monday, during which Deputy Minister of Education and Science Manuk Mkrtchyan delivered welcoming remarks.

“We underscore Armenian preservation [in the diaspora]. We [Armenians] should always be able to create for us new values consistent with the future, but characteristic of our identity,” Mkrtchyan specifically stated.  

Education and Science Ministry Diaspora Division Head Nune Vardanyan noted that seasoned professionals will train the Diaspora-Armenian teachers.   

“[Armenian] folk dance teaching classes will be set up too,” Vardanyan added.

But the idea of coming to Armenia was more appealing than the actual training program for the Diaspora-Armenian teachers, some of whom have come to the homeland for the first time.
