YEREVAN. - Armenian opposition parties protest against country’s deep integration in Russia-led structures, Armenian News - NEWS.am reports.

The opposition Armenian Heritage Party leader Raffi Hovannisian during his speech at the large rally in Yerevan downtown on Friday evening severely criticized the decision of Armenian authorities to join Russia-led Eurasian Union. According to Hovannisian, the decision to sign the agreement on the accession to the Eurasian Union made by Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan was “a betrayal of national interests, leading to a loss of sovereignty and independence.”

“Last year, Serzh Sargsyan at the presidential elections had stolen voice of the people and declared himself the winner. Exactly five years ago, at this day, October 10, 2009, Serzh Sargsyan signed anti-Armenian protocols with turkey. Today Serzh Sargsyan signed an agreement on accession to the Eurasian Economic Union, which terminated the independence of Armenia. Only the legitimate power in Armenia can reverse the current nature of the Armenian-Russian relations, where there is no even an idea of equality and respect,” said Hovannisyan, who is considered pro-Western politician. “I must address Serzh Sargsyan one more message: ‘Your time has come, go away!’”
