YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Hayazn Party members and their several dozen supporters on Monday marched toward the National Assembly (NA) building, where they handed a wake-up letter of call to the MPs (photo).

“We demand not to ratify the sinister EEU [i.e., the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union] treaty, and we will remind that, ultimately, everyone will answer before the court for high treason.

“This is a treaty which is equal to the loss of independence,” Hayazn Party Board Member Armen Mkrtchyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am, in particular.

Accompanied by police officers, and chanting “Free, independent Armenia,” the demonstrators arrived outside the NA building, where more than a dozen civic activists already had assembled.

The treaty on Armenia’s forthcoming accession to the Eurasian Economic Union is also on the agenda of the parliament’s four-day session, which kicked off on Monday.
