YEREVAN. - The members of parliament who vote for Armenia’s accession to the Russia-led Eurasian Union are unable to fulfill their mission of citizens’ representatives, the Yerevan Press Club President Boris Navasardyan told reporters during the protest action at Armenian Parliament, Armenian News - NEWS.am reports.

The protesters demanded that parliament members refrain from voting in favor of Armenia’s accession to the newly formed union under Russia leadership.

“Our purpose is to show that an active part of Armenian society has a clear position and understands that the membership to the Eurasian Union leads to destruction. The only thing that can save us from destruction is the destruction of the Eurasian Union itself, which is very likely, and this is our hope,” Navasardyan said.

According to him, Armenia’s accession to Eurasian Union may raise opposition from Kazakhstan and Belarus, as Armenia’s membership in this organization is in Russia’s interests only and basically opposes the interests of Kazakhstan and Belarus.
