YEREVAN. – The fact that six-month-old Seryozha, the sole member of the Avetisyan family to survive the January 12 tragedy in Gyumri city, is alive is a miracle, head of children's hospitalin Saint Petersburg Vilyam Khachatryan said.
“It is the fourth day that I am here together with the best world experts. They do everything they can, no other hospital elsewhere could do more. There is no such specialist whom we have not addressed. The fact that a child at his age is alive, and with such wounds, is a miracle,” he said.
He promised to stay in Yerevan as much time as it takes to stabilize the health of the child.
Earlier the child underwent a surgery with the help of foreign physicians. Russian leader Vladimir Putin in a phone conversation with his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan offered to send a plane to transport the child to Russia.
It was revealed on Monday that Seryozha’s cardiovascular and renal insufficiency had grown worse, and it was decided to conduct a peritoneal dialysis.
