President of France Francois Hollande will visit Yerevan on April 24 when Armenians commemorate centennial of the Genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman Empire.

“I will go to Yerevan on April 24 on behalf of the people of France,” he said during a dinner of the Coordination Council of the Armenian Organizations of France (CCAF).

Politicians, actors and media representatives attended the event dedicated to the centennial of the Armenian Genocide, Nouvelles d'Arménie reported.

Co-presidents of CCAF Ara Toranian and Mourad Papazian delivered speeches. CCAF awarded Charles Aznavour a medal for courage.

In his speech, President Hollaned urged Turkey to continue efforts towards the truth, adding that “ it is time to break the taboos” , AFP reported.

Hollande said he is convinced that this centenary year will see new gestures, new steps on the road to recognition.
