The number of the visitors to the world’s longest ‘TaTever’ ropeway, which links Armenia’s Syunik province Halidzor community to Tatev Monastery Complex, is expected to increase this year. The ropeway director Vahe Baghdasaryan told Armenian News – NEWS.am that this year over 100 thousand visitors are expected.    

“Five years have passed since the opening of the ropeway and the growth of tourists is increasing annually. Every year about ten thousands of people visit Tatev Monastery Complex, whereas five years ago it had about 1000 visitors. This year we expect 15 per cent growth of tourism. And the visitors of the region are mainly interested in the ropeway and the Monastery Complex,” he said, noting that last year the ropeway had 92 thousand visitors.  

The ropeway, which works from 9 AM to 9 PM in summer, is capable of transporting about 2000 people daily. The 5752-metre-long ropeway, whose maximum speed is 37 km/h, passes from one station to another in 12 minutes.
