YEREVAN. – The oath ceremony of more than five thousand young Armenian yerkrapah (defender of the land) volunteers was held Saturday at the Armenian Genocide Memorial in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.

In addition, the young yerkrapahs conducted demonstrative exercises.

The event brought together several ministers, Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan, and numerous members of the Yerkrapah Volunteer Union.

“The Yerkrapah Volunteer Union has become a pride for our country,” Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan stated during the oath ceremony, addressing the young yerkrapahs. “You are taking an oath to do everything so that all abilities of each and every one of you be used for the Armenian army.”   

After the ceremony, those in attendance placed flowers in memory of the Armenian Genocide victims.

Similar oath ceremonies were conducted also in various provinces in Armenia, and 20 thousand young volunteer defenders of the land took part in these events.
