YEREVAN. – The ChessFimee application, which the Fimetech Armenian company recently launched, continues to receive a positive feedback from the chess community.

ChessFimee scans and analyzes the chessboard, using the ՕCR (optical character recognition) technology. It modifies the image of the chessboard—which is shot by a camera—to a FEN string, which the application uses to analyze the positions of the chess figures.

ChessFimee, however, not only scans the chess board and analyzes the positions of the chess figures, but it enables to download the smartphone chessboard images into this system, and also play chess with it. The chess diagrams can be scanned from  books, magazines, and LCD screens.

But the most ambitious goal of this project is to create a chess platform, which is planned to implement in the coming year.

“Our ultimate goal is to create a server providing service, a unique chess platform for chess players, which will enable them to conduct complex positional  analyses, prepare for competitions, with powerful computers,” Fimetech Founder Gor Vardanyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The ability to scan real chessboards is also planned to be included in this application.
