YEREVAN. – A state official of the Russian Federation has been appointed Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.

Zaruhi Postanjyan, who heads Armenia’s opposition “Heritage” National Assembly Faction, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am. She noted this reflecting on Karen Karapetyan’s appointment to the post of Prime Minister of Armenia.

“I don’t think this is unexpected; it’s a normal process because we [i.e. Armenia] are in crisis,” said Postanjyan. “Consequently, there should have been such commotion. [But] it’s all the same; this commotion will not change the situation, since you don’t solve the arising issues in this way.”

The opposition Heritage Party member noted that the resignation of the Armenian government should be observed in the context of a geopolitical climate.

“And let’s not forget the extent of Russia’s influence in the region, and generally, what kind of processes are taking place during the formation of a new geopolitical order,” added Zaruhi Postanjyan. “And therefore we need to take these into account, too.”
