YEREVAN. - Certain sections of the North-South road corridor may become paid.
Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies of Armenia, Vahan Martirosyan, told the aforementioned to journalists in the National Assembly (NA) Monday.
According to the Minister, the programs aimed at road construction in Armenia are not at threat. “It is merely discussed that many sections of the road can be built in the framework of state-private sector cooperation,” Martirosyan noted.
Asked whether the involvement of private companies in the investment program of North-South road can suppose that the road will become paid in the future, the Minister noted: “There might be sections, which will become paid. This may be mainly the tunnel sections or bridges. But this issue is still under discussion.”
In Martirosyan’s words, it is scheduled to finish the construction of Ashtarak-Talin-Gyumri section of North-South motorway by the beginning of 2019.
