YEREVAN. – Today, I have submitted an application for becoming a member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan announced at the start of Thursday’s Cabinet meeting.
In his words, this is due, first of all, to the fact that the President of Armenia, who is also the ruling RPA Chairman, invited him to become PM, and each and every government needs to have a political support.
“Even if we don’t take these points into account, some may ask why we haven’t founded another [political] party; this would not be justified,” added Karapetyan. “The RPA can become such a support also because the conservative ideology of the party is close to me.
“Many things need to change in the socioeconomic life, state governance [in Armenia], and this means that we must begin with ourselves. This matter is put very clearly, and self-criticism is often sharper than the sides imagine.”
