YEREVAN. –Minister of Agriculture, Ignati Arakelyan, on Thursday will submit a petition for becoming a member of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA). He noted this after Thursday’s Cabinet session, speaking to reporters.
“Yes, I will follow the Prime Minister’s step,” he added. “It’s not mandatory, but I’m a team worker.”
The minister assured that the RPA ideology is “close” to him.
“I think that it’s right to join [the party] today,” noted Arakelyan. “This is my personal decision, opinion.”
The minister stated that he had not submitted an application for RPA membership until now because he was not engaged in politics.
Ignati Arakelyan, added, however, that he had voted for this party in previous elections, and cast his ballot in favor of incumbent President and RPA Chairman Serzh Sargsyan, in the 2013 presidential election.
As reported earlier, Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan announced, at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting, that he has submitted an application to join the Republican Party of Armenia.
