YEREVAN. - Most of the Armenian citizens don’t believe that the bill criminalizing the unjust enrichment of officials will restrain the latter’s appetite and make them abandon the practice of accumulating unjust fortune.
In the survey conducted by Armenian News – NEWS.am on Yerevan streets, the respondents mainly noted that the aforementioned bill is only aimed at “throwing dust in the people’s eyes”
“They want to show they have done something but the law won’t work, since how can those who got so rich return their fortune?” one of the respondents said.
The respondents explained their skepticism mainly by the reason that those who adopted the law are also involved in unjust enrichment. “How can they struggle against themselves? Do those who got rich by unjust means adopt a law against others who got rich the same way?” they said.
