YEREVAN. - It was Hovik Abrahamyan's decision to leave the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).

The RPA Spokesman and Deputy Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly (NA), Eduard Sharmazanov, told the aforementioned to journalists after the RPA Executive Body and Board sessions on Thursday.

''Each politician has the right to stay in the Republican Party of Armenia or not to stay in it. Has this made the RPA weaker? Definitely not. The RPA is more decisive? I think, yes,'' he said.

According to Sharamazanov, he read the Facebook post of the former prime minister but found no political motives there. The RPA spokesman said that a politician must be guided by political substantiations, which, however, he didn't see in Abrahamyan's post.

Asked whether he expected such a step from Hovik Abrahamyan, Sharmazanov said:  ''Nothing is ruled out in politics. Politics is an art of possible. Hovik Abrahamyan wrote about this on his Facebook page, so you can address your questions to him later. All persons entering politics to take an office can chose another party if they wish. There are no persons for the RPA; there is a political team, program and ideology.  The team will decide who will be where. For instance, in football there is a head coach, and all the eleven footballers want to play as center forwards, but if all of them are center forwards, your net will remain open and you will lose 10-0. That is, there must be a coach or leader, who must distribute the use of the services and capacities.''
