YEREVAN. – Levon Yolyan has been elected Chairman of the Control Chamber of Armenia.

Chairman of the National Assembly Committee on Counting, Sukias Avetisyan, on Tuesday stated the aforesaid in parliament.

A total of 99 MPs voted for Yolyan’s respective candidacy, whereas two ballots were declared invalid.

Those in attendance hailed his election with applause.

Levon Yolyan recently served as Minister of Energy and Natural Resources.

Ishkhan Zakaryan had submitted his resignation from the position of Chairman of the Control Chamber of Armenia, and on the grounds of joining the alliance formed by opposition Prosperous Armenia Party Chairman—and businessman MP—Gagik Tsarukyan, ahead of the forthcoming parliamentary election in the country, and heading the campaign office of this alliance.
