YEREVAN. – Never has any instruction been given to the judicial system, including with the trial of second President Robert Kocharyan. 

Armenia’s Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told about the aforesaid to reporters, after casting his ballot in Sunday’s snap parliamentary election in the country. He noted this commenting on the remark that the wiretapping of the telephonic conversation between him and the National Security Service director indicates that Pashinyan gives instructions to the judicial system.

“These phone talks’ those parts which prove that are edited,” he added. “The investigative bodies don’t act in accordance with my statements, but in accordance with the factual data at their disposal. I formally state that the judicial system of Armenia has never been as independent as today.”

And reflecting on the second president’s trial, the acting PM said: “I will not comment on Kocharyan’s remanding in custody because that process, that criminal case has begun long ago. It certainly has nothing to do with the elections.”
