YEREVAN. – The murder of an Armenian woman by a Russian serviceman in Gyumri is a matter of interaction between the investigators and the military base, Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin told reporters on Tuesday.
“It [interaction] is conducted in accordance with the Armenian legislation and the documents that regulate functioning of the base on the territory of Armenia,” he explained.
The diplomat emphasized that the issue cannot be politicized, as it will affect the efficiency and impartiality of the investigations.
“Let’s not interfere with their work. When it happened, the investigators had no preferential version at all. Do you remember the statement by regional prosecutor who said: ‘what does the 102nd military base have to do with it?’ But, an idea was definitely carried out by certain media outlets, and of specific direction, that the traces lead to the 102nd military base. And it was done before the investigators stopped at a certain version,” the Russian Ambassador to Armenia stated.
