Opportunities for the settlement of the Karabakh conflict open up in this new situation, former co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group James Warlick told the Voice of America.
He noted that President Aliyev seems to realize that there are new opportunities, and he is confident that in these circumstances the co-chairs are working for the organization of the official summit between the two leaders, Warlick said and connected new possibilities with the change of power in Armenia.
Warlick, who is representing Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners law firm founded by Putin's friend Nikolay Egorov, does not share the view that Moscow is not interested in the settlement of Karabakh conflict.
He added that during his work as a co-chair he witnessed Russia's interest in finding a solution. Warlick believes that it is logical that Russia, facing many other challenges, would not want to see an escalation between friendly Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Warlick believes that the Karabakh conflict is not freezing, rather than becoming more dangerous. Therefore, he believes it is necessary to settle the conflict, as neither Armenians nor Azerbaijanis want to transfer the conflict to the future generation.
