Revelation of the events of 27 October 1999 are necessary from the perspective of Armenia’s national security. This is what former Deputy Minister of Defense and current Deputy of the My Step parliamentary faction of the National Assembly Andranik Kocharyan told journalists following the commemorative ceremony held at Yerablour Military Pantheon on the occasion of the 60th birthday of Vazgen Sargsyan on 5 March.

“There is no hindrance to the revelation of the case. There are simply priorities. Everything has to be done in order,” he noted.

When asked if he agreed with the view of Vazgen Sargsyan’s brother Aram Sargsyan that the events of 27 October 1999 will be revealed when there is change of power in Russia, Andranik Kocharyan said that Aram Sargsyan had meant that there could be very powerful geopolitical forces behind the events.

When asked if he shared the view that there were geopolitical forces behind the events of 27 October, Kocharyan noted the following: “Armenia has to become such a powerful and sovereign country that it can reveal any crime that takes place in the country. We are going to reveal the events of 1 March 2008 and of 27 October 1999.”
