YEREVAN. – Mortgage lending in the Republic of Armenia grew by 100 percent in February 2019, as compared with February 2018, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated at his press conference on Tuesday.

In his words, within the framework of the government-implemented programs, mortgage lending in the country grew by 145 percent last month, against February of the year past.

“The amount of mortgage lending portfolio has grown by 30 percent [in the country]; and according to experts’ assessment, this is a tremendous growth,” Pashinyan added. “This means that we [Armenia] will have a demand for construction; this, in turn, will bring new jobs (…). This is an important indicator that will bring a reduction in unemployment, an opening of new workplaces [in Armenia].”
