YEREVAN. – The amount of the foreign national debt does not pose a threat to Armenia.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Wednesday stated the above-said at the National Assembly, as he presented the 2018 activity report of the government.

In the PM’s words, all annual payments are already calculated within the framework of state budget planning.

“There is no risk—moreover, a threat—to Armenia,” Pashinyan noted. “The prices of apartments will increase, budget revenues will grow.

“This year we will collect at least 40 billion drams [approx. US$82,232,000]. And our economic activity indices show that the revenues will grow.”

The Premier added that the fight against corruption will contribute to the reduction of shadow economy and the growth in revenues. 

Also, he expressed a conviction that Armenia will resolve its economic issues.

“Risks certainly exist,” Nikol Pashinyan concluded. “But they are linked to the global situation and crises.”
