The “territories for peace” principle has never been on the agenda of any government in Armenia. This is what leader of the Bright Armenia Party, head of the party’s parliamentary faction Edmon Marukyan said during briefings at the National Assembly on 1 April, commenting on Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan’s statement that in case of new Azerbaijani aggression, the “territories for peace” principle will be reformulated as “new war for new territories”.

According to the MP, Azerbaijan proposed the “territories for peace” principle and is trying to impose it on and ascribe it to Armenia. “We state that Armenia shouldn’t be afraid of your threats for restart of a war and make concessions, Azerbaijan should be afraid of Armenia because if it attacks, it can lose something. However, it is necessary to clarify how the statements of Armenia’s defense minister and the Pashinyan-Aliyev meeting in Vienna are linked to each other, and I believe the Armenian authorities will give clarifications regarding this,” the parliamentarian stated.
