There is no need to worry about bookmakers and totalizators because their owners are billionaires.

This is what Deputy of the My Step Alliance Alen Simonyan said while discussing the bill on making amendments to the Law “On raffles” during the session of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs of the National Assembly on 10 April, responding to the criticism of Hayk Sargsyan, who also represents the Alliance in the National Assembly.

Simonyan highlighted the fact that he is worried not so much about the future of bookmakers and totalizators as much as the 63,000 citizens of Armenia obsessed with gambling.

Simonyan also stated that the restrictions on the activities of bookmakers wouldn’t lead to growth of unemployment since this is an activity that will ensure high incomes for the owners in any case.

At the end, upon mutual consent, the session was postponed, and the bill was sent for revision.
