YEREVAN. – Exactly one year ago we were together—but on different sides of the barbed wire.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Tuesday stated the aforesaid during a solemn meeting on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the Police of Armenia.

“I consider that day significant in relations between the Republic of Armenia Police and the Republic of Armenia citizens,” Pashinyan stressed. “From that day, our conclusion was that the actual process when an expressive act of controversy took place, there wasn’t a single hatred in all that. I consider that day to be significant in that sense, and I believe that it’s the beginning of a new content in relations between the Republic of Armenia police and citizens; in the sense that actions of the Police of the Republic of Armenia should not express and generate hate.

“Our achievement in recent months can be considered that hatred, as a feature of relations, has completely come out of the relationship between the citizens and the police.”

The PM noted that the police are one of the pillars of statehood, and the implementing of police functions at a high level first of all attests to the high level of the state.

“I hope that at this point—in new Armenia—police will assume a new content, image, manifest in a new course of action, and [that] it will not be serving any political force, any person,” Nikol Pashinyan concluded.
