YEREVAN. – Seventeen member states have ratified the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement between the European Union and Armenia (CEPA), Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Avet Adonts said.

The ratification process is about to end in five countries, the Armenian official said before the news about the ratification by Slovenia came during the press conference that was dedicated to the second anniversary of signing the CEPA.

Mr. Adonts described CEPA as a flexible document, adding that it has become a constitution of the EU and Armenia.

Expanding relations with the EU is among Armenia's priorities, the deputy minister said, adding that CEPA is a unique tool the implementation of which will lead to tangible changes for Armenian citizens.

The agreement also highlights the necessity of peaceful and lasting resolution of the Karabakh conflict based on the principles of the Helsinki Act, the Deputy Minister added.

Adots said there is no certain timeframe for the ratification of the agreement by the EU states, but added that there is no country where the process had not started so far.
