YEREVAN. – When we speak of high-ranking officials, in general, about the fight against corruption, about misuse, in terms the political situation and nuances, sadly, sometimes it’s perceived that we only mean former officials. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this today during his speech dedicated to the Special Investigation Service Officers’ Day.

"In principle, we mean more the incumbent officials because if the fight against misuse relates only to the past, it will only be political conjuncture, political expediency, and a wish to replace the old culture of misuse with the new culture of misuse," he said.

Pashinyan stressed that public officials in Armenia cannot be above the law. "In Armenia, public officials very quickly acquire a fixation of  a 'prince,’" he said. "And our task is to transform the ‘prince’ fixation of the public official into, sorry for such a wording, the ‘Jesus’ fixation."

The Prime Minister said by saying “Jesus” fixation he means that every official realizes that he is both a servant and a master at the same time because, according to the Prime Minister, separating the two from one another will not be sufficiently useful in the case of a public official.
