YEREVAN. – I consider the actions of the police to be proportionate. National Assembly of Armenia Vice Speaker Alen Simonyan said this in a conversation with journalists today, commenting on yesterday’s demonstration by the ARF Dashnaktsutyun party youth outside the Education, Science, Culture and Sport Ministry building and the subsequent events.
Simonyan thinks that with this action the ARF is trying to revive itself politically;
"This working style does not find any support among our people because you can’t show and come, say, ‘see what our young people did,’" he said. "They are trying to revive themselves politically, but it will waste the trust toward it because they will not achieve anything with such fake agendas, with such a working style."
According to the NA Vice Speaker, the ARF Dashnaktsutyun youth had no intention of meeting with the Minister. "The goal was to get into the ministry building and hold a protest there," he said. "The Dashnak officials (...) should have been careful when organizing such a thing."
