YEREVAN. – Among people, corruption is a phenomenon associated with personal enrichment, but we must understand that corruption is also political, and it is an international wording. Davit Khazhakyan, head of the opposition Luys faction at the Yerevan Council of Elders, said this in a conversation with reporters today, referring to the survey data released by GALLUP International Association's full member in Armenia MPG LLC, according to which 43.4% of Yerevan residents believe that donating of vehicles by businessmen to Yerevan Municipality is "definitely not corruption," whereas 22.8% think it is "rather corruption."

"Part of political corruption is when a government official goes beyond his power for political gain," he said. “In this case, the political interest is the rectifying of some of the failures of the mayor's actions. (...) We should realize that, before, the fight was against personal enrichment, but that does not mean that other forms of corruption must now be acceptable."

Khazhakyan also promised new scandalous revelations. "One can simply follow online the procurement procedures and see how many controversial circumstances, how many interconnections there are," he said. "It's just hard to prove them 100 percent, and it takes time because now the city government denies everything and we have to be able to prove everything with facts."

He mentioned that the documents in his possession are about deals, they have a controversial legal basis, the lawyers should study them, and which he is going to transfer to the National Assembly inquiry committee.
